This is honestly the best Instant Pot Chicken Wings Recipe made with dry Seasonings and delicious BBQ sauce! (And yes, we have a favorite BBQ sauce we use!) It is such a great party appetizer!
First of all, let me just tell you one thing. I always hated BBQ chicken wings. Because they were not just messy, they always used barbecue sauce that was either too spicy or too sweet! And the barbecue sauce in the recipe was a HUGE life saver! I was surprised at how fast I chowed down this big bowl with my husband!
These Instant Pot Chicken Wing are my new “to go” favorite! It’s so easy to make, and have I mentioned that I love the barbecue in this recipe?! So subtly spicy and aromatic! Thanks to the Instant Pot, the cooking time is so much quicker than if you were to bake it. All it take is 6 minutes to cook on high pressure, then release the pressure for about 10 minutes. After mixing them in BBQ sauce, I also love to broil mine for a few minutes to get that perfect crispiness. All I can say, is that you won’t find these at KFC, Chick-fil-a, or Popeyes! And they’re probably healthier as well!
This is my favorite homemade seasoning mix, which I also use in various other recipes! Here are 8 spices I use for my chicken wings seasoning.
You only need about 6 minutes to cook 2 pounds of chicken. If you use more than 2 pounds, I’d cook it for 7 to 8 minutes.
After you place the chicken onto a baking sheet with a wire rack, 5 to 7 minutes were perfect for me! Or until the skin is nice and crispy to your liking!
There are three tips I like to follow when checking for doneness in my chicken:
But if I were you, I’d definitely check all three! Keep in mind that you will put the chicken in the oven for a few minutes as well!
1. Gather all of your ingredients together, including your instant pot!
2. Rinse and pat dry 2 pounds of chicken wings. Add the seasoning and toss well until it evenly covered.
3. In the Instant Pot, add 1/2 cup water and place the trivet in the middle.
4. Put the seasoned chicken wings on top of the trivet.
5. Close Instant Pot with the lid and set it to Manual High Pressure for 6 minutes.
6. When done, let it naturally release pressure for 10 minutes.
7. When done, take the chicken wings out to a large mixing bowl, add 1/2 cup BBQ sauce and mix well. (Make sure to save the left over BBQ Sauce for later!)
8. Transfer the BBQ chicken wings to a baking sheet with a wire rack. If you have some remaining BBQ sauce left in the mixing bowl, brush it over the wings with a baking brush.
9. Broil for 5-10 minutes, or until the Chicken Wings are crispy.
10. After you take out the chicken from the oven, brush the left over BBQ sauce on top and serve right away:)
